Dental Surgery

Our team is dedicated to providing individualized care for each child we treat which is why we meet for a thorough evaluation which includes x-ray technology to accurately identify focus areas, to explore relevant treatment options and create a customized care plan for each child with input from their guardians. Each patient is unique which is why the care we provide is as well.

We also work to incorporate a multidisciplinary approach to treatment and care: we tailor our treatments to each patient's specific health care needs and we always work with a team of pediatricians to ensure comprehensive care.

Starkville Pediatric Dentistry partners with Oktibbeha County Hospital (OCH) to offer general anesthesia for surgery when children require extensive oral rehabilitation. Our surgery services offer families and their children access to sophisticated surgical procedures and treatment. Dr. Lockhart typically performs surgeries on a weekly basis at OCH, which is conveniently located just across the street from us.

Clinical Services

If you are referred to our practice specifically to evaluate for a hospital surgery, you may bring a list of questions about your child’s treatment with you to your appointment. If surgery is recommended, our staff will review cost with you and schedule your appointments so you can plan accordingly.

We perform all types of treatments such as stainless steel crowns, extractions, cheng tooth-colored crowns, composite fillings, sealants, and space maintainers. We work closely with each patient and their family to determine the best possible method for treatment.

When possible, we do minimally invasive procedures such as sedations or in-office operative appointments. Full mouth rehabilitation surgery is a necessary and effective solution when multiple teeth have decayed. It can be a comprehensive way to restore oral health, boost confidence, restore bite strength and function, reduce the future risk of infection, improve speech, and save you money long-term.

Our Team

Dr. Lockhart has specialized training in the use of general anesthesia in pediatric dentistry patients. Dr. Lockhart works with an experienced group of staff on a surgical team at OCH that consists of experienced surgeons and anesthesiologists trained in their specialty, certified registered nurse anesthetists, and nurses. We also work closely with our patient's primary and specialist physicians to ensure comprehensive care.

Referring Physicians

At Starkville Pediatric Dentistry, we understand the importance of referrals entrusting people into our care (download our Referral Form here). Our Administrative Assistants process referrals quickly in order to schedule an evaluation appointment efficiently with prospective patients. We partner with referring physicians in our community and beyond to provide information on our physicians and clinical services.
